Prevent Update Accuro (Tech Tuesday #34)

Happy Tuesday!

It’s time again for Tech Tuesday; a weekly series of helpful hints, tips, and workflows that you can use to improve your skills in Accuro®EMR.

Optimed releases a lot of product. Every 6 weeks a release is produced for download. This certainly has mixed reviews as some love to see what’s new and improved and others would rather just stay put. Now, I am not suggesting a tip where you never update Accuro, but this tip will allow your clinic administrator to control user updates.

There is a feature in Accuro available to administrators allowing clinic wide lockdown to the current version of Accuro. With the lockdown in place, users and computers can only update to the locked down version even if Optimed has a more recent version available.

Steps:

  1. Log in as an administrator
  2. Go to Help > About Accuro > Version Tab
  3. Click the Lock to Current Release button

To unlock and allow an update again, simply go through the same 3 steps to unlock, then close Accuro, Update the machine you are sitting at, then log in and lock it again. It will then allow users to update their machines to the new locked down version.

Important: when you update an unlocked Accuro, you will always get the most recent version available.

In the case where the most recent release is, for example, 3 versions forward, there is not an option to only move 1 release forward. Release notes can also be accessed via the help menu.

Hope you found this helpful! Stay tuned for next week’s Tech Tuesday!

To stop receiving Tech Tuesdays, go to File > User Preferences > Display, and select the checkbox that is labeled "Only Show High Priority Optimed Notices".
