The 2012 Canadian Cardiovascular Society standard Framingham Risk Calculator has been adopted as the new default in Accuro. This calculator is called "CVD Risk". This is an "Estimation of 10 year Cardiovascular Disease Risk" has been added and also the reference "Anderson et al. CCS Dyslipidemia Guidelines Update 2012". The POSP Calculator is now called "HCHD Risk" and is described as "Estimation of 10 year risk of nonfatal myocardial infarction or coronary death". This is the HCHD Risk Framingham Calculator:
The existing Standard Calculator That was used in Accuro prior to software version 2013.07 is called the "CHD Risk" and is described as an "Estimation of 10 year Coronary Heart Disease Risk". This is the CHD Risk Framingham Calculator:
Note: Changing the calculator in your version of Accuro switches the calculator for all users.
You can use the Framingham Risk Calculator without having a patient selected. You have to type in all the information and you do not get the option to save the results.
The Framingham Risk Calculator calculates the risk for the currently selected patient. If the user has a patient selected when they open the Framingham Calculator the patient's age and sex are imported from their EMR.
This procedure assumes that the HCHD Risk calculator is being used. If a clinic chooses to use an alternative calculator then some of the fields may be different.
In the Framingham Risk Calculator window you have three options: HCHD Risk (the Accuro default), CHD Risk or CVD Risk.
Warning: If you switch the profile for the Framingham Risk Calculator all users are switched to the new profile.
