Tasks
Tasks allows a user to send or receive tasks that are specific to a patient. A task is always associated with a patient and the task is always added into a patient's chart. If a user tries to send a task and does not have a patient selected, they are prompted to select a patent.
There are three folders:
- Inbox: Tasks that have been sent to you.
- Completed: Tasks that are completed.
- Sent: Tasks you have sent to others.
Users can filter tasks by roles. If a user has more than one role, they can select the roles applicable to their job. The default is All meaning that a user sees all tasks for all of their roles.
Create a New Task
- Click the Home button
on the Accuro Navigation bar click the Tasks folder.
Or:
Press and release the Alt key, click Tools and select Add/View Patient Tasks from the list displayed, alternatively the F7 key brings up Patient Tasks
Or:
Click the EMR button
on the Accuro Navigation bar, click the Day Sheet tab and right-click on the appropriate patient and select Add Task or the New Task button (both are highlighted below).
- The last loaded patient appears in the patient Search Tool. Use the Search Tool to change the patient if required.
- Click New Task.
- Select the user(s) to assign the task to by clicking on them under the "Assign Task To" list. To select more than one user, hold Ctrl on the keyboard while selecting users.
- Select a Task description from the dropdown list.
- Select a Priority from the dropdown list.
- Select a Due Date. You can do this one of two ways:
• Select how many days, weeks, months, or years from the dropdown list
• Click on the date and select a new date from the popup mini calendar.
- Enter a Note into the text box.
- To include attachments (if necessary), click the Attachments button. This opens the Message Attachments window.
- Select the appropriate attachments by clicking the checkbox beside them.
- Click OK.
View a Task
- Click the Home button
on the Accuro Navigation bar click the Tasks folder.
Or:
Press and release the Alt key, click Tools and select Add/View Patient Tasks from the list displayed.
- In the Tasks folder, click on a task to view in the preview pane.
Note: Double-click on a task to open it in a new window.
View Tasks for the Currently Selected Patient
With the appropriate patient selected, press F7 anywhere in Accuro or Click Tools on the Menu bar and select Add/View Patient Tasks from the list displayed. The Patient Tasks (F7) window is displayed listing all outstanding tasks.
Edit a Task
- Click the Home button
on the Accuro Navigation bar click the Tasks folder.
Or:
Press and release the Alt key, click Tools and select Add/View Patient Tasks from the list displayed
- In the Tasks folder, double-click on the task to open it.
- Make any required changes.
- Click OK to save any changes.
Mark an Item as Unread
Items can be marked as unread in the Labs, Documents, Tasks and Mail area of the Home section.
- Click the Home button
on the Accuro Navigation bar.
- Select the appropriate folder.
- Right-click on a message to select Mark as Unread.
Add a Note to a Task
- Click the Home button
on the Accuro Navigation bar click the Tasks folder.
Or:
Press and release the Alt key, click Tools and select Add/View Patient Tasks from the list displayed
- Click on a Task to select it.
- Click on one of the note buttons. Options include Message Left, No Answer, and General Note which can include any text you wish to add.
Note: Message Left and No Answer add the date and time as well as Message Left or No Answer respectively. General Note allows the user to type in a short note, Click Add Note when completed.
Check Out a Task
- Click the Home button
on the Accuro Navigation bar click the Tasks folder.
Or:
Press and release the Alt key, click Tools and select Add/View Patient Tasks from the list displayed
- In the Tasks folder, click on a task to view in the preview pane.
Note: Double-click on a task to open it in a new window.
- When working on a task, click the Checkout button. This prevents anyone else working on the task at the same time.
Documents checked out are easily identifiable by the Checkout icon
.
Check In a Task
- Click the Home button
on the Accuro Navigation bar click the Tasks folder.
Or:
Press and release the Alt key, click Tools and select Add/View Patient Tasks from the list displayed
- In the Tasks folder, click on a task to view in the preview pane.
Note: Double-click on a task to open it in a new window.
- Click the Check-in button.
- Click OK to close the task. The Checkout icon
is no longer displayed next to this task.
Complete a Task
- Click the Home button
on the Accuro Navigation bar click the Tasks folder.
Or:
Press and release the Alt key, click Tools and select Add/View Patient Tasks from the list displayed
- Click on a task to select it.
- Click the Completed button. This moves the task to the Completed folder.
Undo Completed Tasks
If a task is mark complete in error users can undo the completed action. To undo a completed task:
- Select the Home button
.
- Open the Completed folder.
- Right-click on the task and select Uncomplete.
- When prompted click Yes.
Delete a Task
- Click the Home button
on the Accuro Navigation bar click the Tasks folder.

Press and release the Alt key, click Tools and select Add/View Patient Tasks from the list displayed
- Click on a task to select it.
- Click the Remove button.
- A message asking to confirm deletion is displayed, click Yes. The message is deleted.
Print a Task
- Click the Home button
on the Accuro Navigation bar click the Tasks folder.
- Click on a task to select it.
- Click the Print button.
- Select the printer and click OK.
Add Attachments to Existing Tasks
- Click the Home button
on the Accuro Navigation bar click the Tasks folder.
Or:
Press and release the Alt key, click Tools and select Add/View Patient Tasks from the list displayed
Or:
Press F7 to access tasks for the current global patient.
- Open up the task and click the Attachments button. The Message Tasks window is displayed.
- Click the Edit button and select the items being attached from those listed in the left-hand pane.
- Click OK to close the Message Tasks window.
- Make any other changes as required and click OK to save the task.
Faxing Attachments in Mail and Tasks
If an attachment is received either in an Accuro Mail message (Home section > Mail folder) or as an attachment in a Task (Home section > Tasks folder) and you want to fax this on to another office or clinic, this can be done directly from the Mail or Task message.
To fax an attachment open up the Mail message or task, click to open the attachment and then click the Fax button located in the middle of the window.

Create a Task Description
- Click the Home button
on the Accuro Navigation bar and select the Tasks folder.
- Click Tasks and click the New Task button
to open the New Task window.
- Under the Tasks dropdown list, select Manage. The following window is displayed.
- Click the Add button
and the following window is displayed:
- Enter a new Task Description. If the reason is to be used to the entire clinic, click the Global checkbox.
- Click OK.
- Click Close.
- Type in a note, if required. Click OK to create the task for the selected patient.
- Click Close to leave Patient Tasks.
Edit a Task Description
- Click the Home button
on the Accuro Navigation bar and select the Tasks folder.
- Click Tasks and New Task to open the New Task window.
- In the Tasks dropdown list, select Manage. The following window is displayed:
- Click to select the appropriate description, click the Edit button
.
- In the Edit Task Reasons window change the task name as required. If the Global status needs to be altered select/deselect, as required.
- Click OK to save any changes.
- Click Close.
- Click Cancel to leave Patient Tasks
Delete a Task Description
- Click the Home button
on the Accuro Navigation bar and select the Tasks folder.
- Click Tasks and New Task to open the New Task window.
- In the Tasks dropdown list, select Manage. The following window is displayed:
- Click to select the appropriate description, click the Delete button
.
- A message asking to confirm the deletion is displayed, click OK to continue and delete the reason.
- Click Close.
- Click Cancel to leave Patient Tasks.
Filter Task by Role
- Click the Home button
on the Accuro Navigation bar click the Tasks folder.
- In the Tasks folder, click the dropdown list
to the right of Roles and select which of your roles you want to view the tasks for.
Note: The default is to view all tasks for all of your roles.
